History of Travis Meats

  Travis Meats was incorporated in Knoxville, TN in 1935 by its founder, W.B. Travis. Since then, we have been producing high quality, center of the plate products for much of the country.

Seven decades of manufacturing frozen meat is a strong testament to our commitment to be as good as we can be every day. That commitment to excellence runs throughout all our relationships, employees, vendors and customers alike.

Our "Wall of Fame" is an employee appreciation club honoring 25 years of service at Travis Meats. There are now 42 portraits on this wall with new members being added every year. That kind of loyalty comes from being treated with fairness and respect. Four of our primary vendors have been with us for over 30 years, an indication of our value in trusting relationships.

Our customers are treated with the same respect, appreciation and trust that our employees and vendors have come to know.

Travis Meats Donates Needed Proteins

  Travis Meats has become a key donor of protein foods to Second Harvest. In just 8 months, Travis Meats has donated 18,000 pounds of meat products to help eliminate hunger in East Tennessee. What started out as a small, pilot program, is now a major factor toward better nutrition for folks in need in our area.

"We appreciate Dale Travis and everyone at Travis Meats", said Elaine Machiela, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank. "Travis has been generous in donating meat proteins that are always in short supply, but so important to our mission", she added.

"We want to give back to folks in need as a way of saying thanks for our success", said Dale Travis, Vice President of Travis Meats. "We know meat products are needed and that Second Harvest is a great partner for getting food to the hungry efficiently", he said.

  Since 1965 Travis Meats, Inc. has been a member of NAMP. The North American Meat Processors Association is a non-profit industry organization whose members are meat processing companies and associates who share a continuing commitment to provide their customers with safe, reliable and consistent meat, poultry, seafood, game and other products.

The Association, founded in 1942, is a member-driven organization with member companies both large and small throughout the United States, Canada and other parts of the world.
Both Barney Travis and Dale Travis have had an active role of involvement with NAMP. Barney served on the NAMP board for 2, three year terms, while Dale is currently in his 3rd, three year term on the board. NAMP serves the business and professional needs of its members through a variety of services and educational programs, meetings and seminars.
